Gnome season returns to the girl & the fig!

Happiest of Holidays to you all! Our gnomes have made their triumphant Holiday return. Those of you who have visited the girl & the fig during this time of year are probably aware that these gnomes have a rich history of enhancing our yuletide season.

The fig-history of our gnome-centric holiday season goes back about 5 years now when our fearless founder, Sondra, began collecting these little guys. She wanted something cute, fun and different to help spark some holiday cheer into the restaurant. She also liked the play on words, "So-gnome-a." The idea quickly became an obsession and gnomes of all shapes and sizes began popping up in the restaurant and beyond. You may find them sneaking in your holiday gift orders and hiding behind bottles of wine at The Rhône Room.

- Gnomes have a life expectancy of 400 years!

- Males gnomes always wear red hats.

- Gnomes kiss by rubbing noses.

- They are good luck!

- Gnomes are said to live underground.

This year we've added a fun twist to the gnomes at the restaurant: Guess the gnomes! Whomever can correctly guess the number of gnomes at the restaurant will get a cute and quirky prize. ;) Submit your guess to the hostess next time you are in or connect with us on the social and keep an eye out for our next gnome post! They are also available at the hostess stand at the restaurant for your tree this year or in our online store at

"All the gnomes have been infused with my love. So, I am sharing my love for Sonoma and our wonderful guests through them," says Sondra. Stop by and see our many noble gnomes before the season is over!
