Must See: Fall Colors in Sonoma!
By: Cecily Gamba
Having lived in Los Angeles for the last 7 years, I will be the first to say that I cannot wait to experience Sonoma in all of its Fall glory. I lived in perpetual summer all year round (not that it was a bad thing), so I am excited to take in everything “autumn,” starting with Fall colors! Let's take a look at where I’m going this season to see all those beautiful hues.
Sonoma County Vineyard Adventures
Get up close and personal with the autumnal colors of wine country while on a self guided vineyard walk at various wineries throughout Sonoma County! These tours are complementary, and full of information, from vineyard history, to soil types, to vineyard techniques. Check out their website here for participating wineries!
Sonoma Overlook Trail
Just a few blocks north of the Sonoma Plaza, this gentle 3 mile hike will reward you with views of downtown Sonoma and the surrounding Sonoma Valley. Take in inspirational scenery of the town’s changing colors and vineyards as they turn from green to gold.
Quarryhill Botanical Garden
From October 5th-Nov 19th, take advantage of the Garden’s guided maple walk, and watch as the brilliant colors of fall unfold throughout the season.
Jack London State Historic Park
Zip up your jacket as you make your way through the shaded wilderness, taking in the ruins, fall foliage, and beauty of the park.
North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park & Open Space Preserve
For a sweeping vineyard perspective as far as the eye can see, head to North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park & Open Space Preserve for endless views of fall hues.
Tolay Fall Festival
Head out toward Petaluma for this two weekend, Fall-wonderland festival at Tolay Lake Regional Park. Take a hayride, pet animals in the petting zoo, partake in many hands on activities, such as candle making and archery, pick a pumpkin and so much more.
Take a scenic drive down Highway 12, and take in the sweeping views and colors on either side of the highway. Make a day long adventure and stop in to a few of the many wonderful tasting rooms, wineries, and restaurants along the way!
